Inverted T
The unusual geometric shape of this design may seem daunting for beginning florists or students, but don't let the inverted T fool you. This is a simple design that can also help to make a designer and student feel more accomplished with their floral works. The height and with of the flowers can be easily achieved with a few quick tricks. Not only does it look interesting, but it reinforces the Element of Design by using line flowers and greens to make an interesting shape. I hope this give you some interesting ideas to do in your classroom.Details
As with most floral designs, first you will start with "greening down". Greening down means to cover up you foam base with greens, to cover up your mechanics in the design. For this design we used oasis floral foam soaked in water, and trim the sides to fit in our round container. To start with the greening down, we used leather leaf fern all around the base. Next we used myrtle branches to create our lines. Stick the three branches at 90 degree angles, and be sure not to remove them from the foam the first implication because they cause a large hole. Next add your cushion mums in line with the myrtle, staggering them from smallest at the end to largest at the base. If your mum is not long enough, simply use a wire and tape to elongate the stem. Proceed to add your focal point, in our design we used a lilly. Now you are ready to add more greens and filler flowers to your design.Critique
